MumKey Review : Café Forest Friends

Image
Ladies and gents it is time again for a review of some place or some thing! As per usual the review will be honest and real.  The review we have compiled is of a local gem called Cafe Forest Friends To find Cafe forest friends; follow the link on Google maps below: Directions to Cafe Forest Friends So , as usual , when I arrived I was greeted by a friendly waitress, where after Lorinda and I had a lovely chat about how this venue and concept came to be.  Mittal & an NPO were hosting skills development courses for women in rural areas (shoutout to women empowerment whoop whoop!),  when one of the ladies asked Lorinda why she didn't consider opening up her own spot.  Considering how HANDS ON she is, I understand why she waited for the right time! Okay, so before I get into what they do, stock and what I actually Reviewed - let's just admire their raw salad and note that every meal ordered is MADE FRESH.  (photo from an actual party)

Natural Asthma tea Remedies

Image
My Grandmother passed away many years ago, but I've always had a fascination with "old people remedies" and " Old wives' tales" ; and the fact that Sometimes they actually really do work. My gran used to say some pretty weird things, and I'm pretty sad that I was never old enough to appreciate it, or actually try it out. So - every now and then - I will post a few 'Old People remedies' that I've read about, seen, or tried! My ex-partner has chronic asthma, and so I felt this was the perfect topic to start with, since I've got  experiences with this. Just a disclaimer: Just because they've worked for me does not mean they will work for you. Please consult your healthcare professional before trying any remedies etc. This is not necessarily proven to diagnose, cure or prevent and issues, disease or ailment. Please be cautious when using or ingesting any natural products. So Herewith = Natural asthma tea remedies: People with asthma ma

Baby meal plan - BLW

Image
Wondering what to feed your little between boob/formula feeds and on the BLW journey? Here's a quick and easy 3 day meal plan for a carnivol baby: (Disclaimer: this meal plan is based off our 8 month old baby who does not have allergies and is well into her BLW journey. Never leave your baby unattended when they are eating.  Consult your doctor for dietary requirements or for information regarding when to start solids.) Our times are as follows: Breakfast - 8:00 Snack - 10:00 Lunch - 12:00 Snack - 14:30 Supper - 17:00 With breast on demand throughout the day. If rice cakes are too hard for your little, or they are still gag/choke prone with rice cakes, you can use a cracker/bread as an alternative.  For the steamed apple, some mum's add a little bit of cinnamon for an extra yum factor. We have yet to introduce cinnamon, though.  French toast is such a massive win for us. When she refuses to eat something, I know she'll nibble on French toast. (not al

How to Prep for a Leap

Image
W hen I first discovered Leaps and the wonder weeks app, I was absolutely overjoyed because it meant there was  reason for my little girl's fussiness. It made sense to me, and finally I felt less overwhelmed by those phases. BUT.... THEY ARE HARD TO GET THROUGH!!!!!! So I've compiled a list to help get through those yucky fussy days/weeks:  1. Feed feed feed This applies particularly to boobie mums. It's not always easy or convenient to whip out a boob at any point throughout the day, but I promise this can really help baby get through some difficult days!  2. Baby wearing Yeah, they get super heavy after a while, so make sure your carrier works for YOU! Whether it's one with fifty thousand straps or a simple wrap - that closeness can be the difference between a screaming, and a calm happy baby! 3. Don't rely on naps This is a biggie. Babies don't sleep their regular times/ways during particularly difficult leaps and I wish so

Review : Fry's Family

Image
Yes! It's here as promised! A baby-approved review of a very interesting food brand! Why this brand? Well... I wanted to check out vegetarian/vegan options for our BLW journey, since I felt like it would be lighter on my little one's digestive system.  What's their vibe? Here's what they say on their website: The original idea behind Fry’s was to find a way to make nutritious products for our family who are all passionate about plant-based diets. Back when we started in 1991 most people thought we were crazy. “Plants that look and taste like meat, made in your kitchen!?” Okay, maybe we were crazy, but with passion and determination, great things can happen. Now, a few decades on, the fully fledged second generation family business, a larger family (and a few grandchildren), we wanted to bring you some more amazingly good tasting plant-based foods, which will leave you feeling good! Personally-I LOVE the fact that a family started this together, and of course

#ProTips: Infant care when mommy is sick

Image
Feeling stressed about how to care for your little one while you're feeling sick?? Sadly, not all of us have the option of handing our little ones over to a partner or family member, and in these moments need to go beyond our capabilities to keep our little ones happy whilst taking proper care of ourselves. Here are some #ProTips for getting through those tough days. *  Please remember that it is always advised that your child is supervised and safe, so if you are really under the weather, it is preferable that someone you trust assists you. These tips should only be used if you will still be able to care for your child properly.  1. Create a baby-safe bedroom This can include bedrails, a playpen/cot that has toys for baby to keep busy. Make sure your baby's favorite toys are on-hand for those particularly tough hours when you want to relax - else you'll be running around instead of recovering. Keep any and all medicines, power points etc out of reach from littl
